Air India plane crashes with 242 people on board.

 



The plane was carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members when it crashed on Thursday, June 12, shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad.



  • Air India Flight AI171 crashed five minutes after takeoff from Ahmedabad to London on June 12, killing over 200 passengers


  • The aircraft was carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members when it struck a residential area



  • It's the first fatal crash involving a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, prompting investigations supported by GE Aerospace and Air India. 

 


The passengers included 169 people from India, 53 from the U.K., seven from Portugal and one from Canada.




In response to the tragic crash on Thursday, June 12, experts are saying the Boeing 787 Dreamliner typically has a strong safety record, making the collision particularly abnormal and the first of its kind, according to Reuters.
