The Ghana Education Service (GES) has laid off Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa as its Director General.
On Monday, October 17, 2022, Professor Opoku Amankwah received a letter from the office of the president His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa written by Nana Bediatuo Asante who is the secretary to the President.
The letter clarifies that the ministry of Education does not need the service of Prof Opoku Amankwah any longer.
“Accordingly, the President of the Republic has instructed that your secondment be terminated forthwith, and you are directed to return to your position at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.”
Prof Opoku-Amankwa was chosen as the Director General of the Service on secondment from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in January 2021. This was extended six months later.
