31 year Tourist shot in the back after running away from a Robbery on NYC street.

 


A 31 year old man got shot in the back after after refusing robber on NYC street. 


The tourist who is from Denmark was shot immediately after he had refused to hand over his personal items to an assertive armed Robber on Manhattan’s Upper West side Sunday morning, Police said. 


The incident happened while the victim was on his way home after a party. He was approached at West 103rd Street and West End Avenue around 3:30 am  when the mugger asked the 31 year Danish to give up his cell phone which he refused.





According to the Police, the tourist was wounded and has been admitted to St. Luke’s Hospital  receiving treatment in a stable condition.


Per Police reports, there is no immediate arrest after the incident. 



According to the New York Police Department Data, Citywide shooting incidents increased by 13.4% (178 v. 157), driven by upticks in Brooklyn, southern Queens, and Staten Island. 

In addition, the number of assailant citywide increased for the month by 34.3% (47 v. 35) compared to the same period last year.



The New York Police department ‘s Gun Violence Suppression Section continues to build strong cases by identifying and seizing illegal firearms – and in many instances removing them before they can ever be sold on New York City’s streets.
